- Insights into the Virunga ecosystem and wildlife protection
- A future gorilla trekking opportunity subject to official reopening
Day-by-Day 6-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and welcome
Meet your safari representative at a confirmed gateway and review the journey, transport logistics and travel advice.
Day 2: Explore the region
Travel through permitted scenic areas and admire the dramatic mountain landscapes associated with eastern Congo. Exact locations depend on current access.
Day 3: Wildlife and forest experience
Dedicate time to photography and learning about Virunga’s conservation history through appropriate, approved activities and guides.
Day 4: Scenic journey
If park authorities officially resume visitor activities, include an authorised excursion in the Virunga region. A Nyiragongo ascent is not offered while volcano treks remain closed.
Day 5: Wildlife and nature experience
If gorilla trekking has reopened and permits are confirmed, enjoy an official ranger-led mountain gorilla trek. Otherwise, change the itinerary before booking to an accessible alternative, such as a gorilla trek in neighbouring Rwanda or Uganda.
Day 6: Safari experience
Conclude the journey with an agreed transfer and onward travel. Routes, timings and border crossings are established only once conditions are confirmed.
Accommodation and Travel Style
This itinerary is planned as a private guided safari, with a selection of comfortable mid-range or luxury accommodation depending on your preferred travel standard. Lodges, road transfers, border procedures and the precise order of activities will be confirmed in the final quotation. We prioritise well-paced travel and practical arrangements rather than promising journeys that cannot be operated.
Prices and Booking
Pricing is provided on request because the final cost depends on travel dates, lodge availability, transport routes, group size and authorised permit fees. Ask us for a detailed quotation for your proposed dates. Trekking permits, accommodation and all activities will be listed clearly in your final confirmation.

What to Know Before You Travel
Gorilla trekking normally requires a minimum age of 15 years. Expect uneven forest paths, variable weather and a need to follow ranger instructions. Your passport, visas, health documentation and permit arrangements must be checked for your exact travel dates. Please do not purchase Congo park permits or non-refundable travel services until authorised access is confirmed.
