Day-by-Day 4-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and welcome
Arrival and welcome briefing at the agreed starting location. Review the confirmed travel route, applicable permits and conditions before entering the next stage of the journey.
Day 2: Explore the region
Travel towards the Virunga region by an approved and currently operational route, subject to local confirmation. Admire the region’s scenic landscapes and learn about conservation efforts and the importance of protecting great apes.
Day 3: Wildlife and forest experience
When Virunga gorilla trekking officially resumes, meet park rangers for a briefing before exploring permitted forest trails in search of a habituated gorilla family. Trek duration varies with terrain and gorilla location. No trekking is possible during the park’s closure.
Day 4: Scenic journey
Enjoy breakfast and arrange the onward journey according to confirmed border and transport conditions. If the Congo element cannot operate, we can discuss a revised itinerary featuring gorilla trekking in Rwanda or Uganda instead.
Accommodation and Travel Style
This itinerary is planned as a private guided safari, with a selection of comfortable mid-range or luxury accommodation depending on your preferred travel standard. Lodges, road transfers, border procedures and the precise order of activities will be confirmed in the final quotation. We prioritise well-paced travel and practical arrangements rather than promising journeys that cannot be operated.

What to Know Before You Travel
Gorilla trekking normally requires a minimum age of 15 years. Expect uneven forest paths, variable weather and a need to follow ranger instructions. Your passport, visas, health documentation and permit arrangements must be checked for your exact travel dates. Please do not purchase Congo park permits or non-refundable travel services until authorised access is confirmed.
