Detailed Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi arrival

Arrive in Nairobi and meet your driver-guide at the agreed airport or hotel. Transfer to your accommodation and discuss the parks, road conditions and vehicle arrangements for the days ahead.

An early arrival may allow a brief city outing, but the first day is best paced around your flight. Prepare camera batteries, sun protection and an overnight bag for the first reserve transfer.

Planning note: Arrival timing matters: a late flight may require a city overnight before a long road transfer.

Suggested overnight area: Nairobi. Lodge selection will be confirmed in your quotation.

Day 2: Ol Pejeta Conservancy transfer

Explore Ol Pejeta Conservancy on the Laikipia plateau, a conservation landscape known for rhinos and varied savanna wildlife. Game drives are conducted according to the conservancy’s access rules, with additional educational activities depending on availability.

Arrange any specialist conservancy visits in advance, as these may carry separate fees and fixed entry times. The Laikipia region makes a useful northern stop between Nairobi and Samburu on a longer Kenya circuit.

Suggested overnight area: Ol Pejeta / Laikipia. Lodge selection will be confirmed in your quotation.

Day 3: Ol Pejeta wildlife viewing

Day 4: Travel to Samburu

Journey north toward Samburu National Reserve or begin a game drive in its semi-arid landscapes. The Ewaso Ng’iro river attracts wildlife to the riverine vegetation, while open scrubland provides a striking contrast to the greener south.

Watch for northern-specialist species alongside elephants and predators, without treating any sighting as guaranteed. The drive from Nairobi or the Rift Valley can be lengthy, so early departures and realistic stopping points are important. Overnight in or near the reserve.

Suggested overnight area: Samburu region. Lodge selection will be confirmed in your quotation.

Day 7: Drive to Lake Nakuru

Visit Lake Nakuru National Park for a drive through lakeshore habitats, woodland and open grasslands. The park is known for rhino conservation and supports buffalo, giraffe and other wildlife, with birdlife affected by changing lake levels.

Flamingo numbers vary, so avoid planning around an assured pink shoreline. Roads and gate arrangements determine the pace of the day. Stay in the Nakuru or Rift Valley area before continuing to the next reserve.

Suggested overnight area: Lake Nakuru area. Lodge selection will be confirmed in your quotation.

Day 9: Lake Naivasha relaxation

Spend time around Lake Naivasha in Kenya’s Rift Valley, a contrasting landscape of freshwater shorelines, birdlife and nearby woodland. A boat outing or a guided nature walk may be booked separately with an experienced local operator, depending on water and weather conditions.

The lake works well as a midway stop between southern parks and the Maasai Mara, giving travellers a break from longer vehicle journeys. Plan accommodation beside the lake or within a sensible transfer distance of the next departure route.

Suggested overnight area: Lake Naivasha. Lodge selection will be confirmed in your quotation.

Day 10: Travel to Masai Mara

Travel into the Maasai Mara ecosystem or explore the reserve on a guided game drive, moving through open grassland and riverine habitat. Look for elephants, giraffes, antelope and predators, while allowing time for quiet observation rather than rushing from sighting to sighting.

Where the itinerary includes the Great Migration, remember that movement and river crossings depend on nature and cannot be scheduled or guaranteed. Choose a reserve or conservancy base appropriate to the agreed game-drive permissions and daily routes. Overnight in a safari camp or lodge.

Suggested overnight area: Maasai Mara. Lodge selection will be confirmed in your quotation.

Day 13: Flexible Mara wildlife and community experience

Spend the day among the Maasai Mara’s wide plains and acacia-lined waterways, planning game drives around wildlife movements, track conditions and photography interests. A private vehicle offers flexibility for longer sightings when animals are active.

A picnic lunch or a return to camp can be arranged according to the driving area. River crossings and close predator sightings are unpredictable, and park or conservancy entry arrangements are confirmed as part of the final package.

Suggested overnight area: Maasai Mara. Lodge selection will be confirmed in your quotation.

Day 14: Return to Nairobi

Travel back toward Nairobi after breakfast or an early morning game drive if the route and park opening times permit. The road journey can be affected by traffic, especially near the city and international airport.

Your guide will plan stops and check-in buffers around the confirmed flight. If the safari finishes far from Nairobi, discuss a scheduled light-aircraft connection as an optional alternative when available.

Planning note: Please confirm your flight time before treating this as a same-day airport connection.

Final arrangements: Departure or onward transfer according to your confirmed travel plans.
